A three-piece drawer box separates the visible sleeve, the product-holding tray and the lower rigid base. The quote should define what each component must do, how the packed product moves through assembly and removal, and which revision is being priced. A rendered or catalog reference can show a format direction; it does not prove final dimensions, material, fit or transport performance.
Start with the maximum packed-product envelope, weight, item layout, sensitive surfaces and removal method. Board, wrap, insert material, cavity clearance, print, finish and shipping protection are then reviewed against that controlled input rather than copied from a generic sample.
01 · Outer sleeve
Review inside clearance, opening direction, exposed edges, wrap seams, print coverage and handling friction around the tray.
02 · Insert tray
Map cavities, load-bearing zones, sensitive surfaces, accessory separation, finger access and the intended loading sequence.
03 · Bottom base
Define the support area, tray registration, visible reveal, board-and-wrap direction and how the base behaves during packing and opening.
There is no universal “best insert.” Compare directions by product weight, contact sensitivity, cavity depth, recovery, removal, presentation, disposal goals and documentation requirements. Any foam or EVA direction remains a project option, not a default claim for every three-piece drawer box.
Stage 1
Lock the current SKU, maximum dimensions, weight, accessory list, orientation and prohibited contact zones.
Stage 2
Review sleeve clearance, tray registration, cavity fit, loading, removal, base support and assembly before decoration.
Stage 3
Approve wrap, color reference, print, foil or embossing, seams, corners, lining and rub-sensitive surfaces.
Stage 4
Review the exact box, products, accessories, shipping case, void control, orientation and acceptance criteria together.
Review clearance using production-intent board and wrap directions; do not approve slide feel from an unrelated bare-board sample.
Separate visual centering from structural support and mark where the packed weight is allowed to transfer into the tray and base.
Define finger access, pull direction and accessory sequence before cutting cavities; avoid forcing the buyer to pull a fragile or decorated area.
Bind the product reference, dieline, insert file, artwork and approval to one revision log with a named approver.
Quote-ready checklist
Send the maximum packed-product dimensions and weight, item count and arrangement, sensitive contact zones, removal direction, quantity by design, artwork status, destination market and the complete shipping configuration. Mark unknown fields for supplier review instead of allowing silent assumptions.
No. The insert direction depends on product support, surface sensitivity, removal, cavity geometry, presentation, disposal goals and buyer documentation requirements. Paperboard, moulded fibre, foam or other directions should be compared against the exact project before a material is approved.
Use a controlled sequence: confirm the product reference and layout, review an unprinted structural sample, approve artwork and finish on a decorated sample, then review the complete packed system with its shipping case. Bind every approval to a revision and named approver.
No. A valid result must identify the exact product, insert, presentation box, shipping case, pack count, procedure and version, test level, acceptance criteria, deviations and recorded outcome. A standard name or informal drop does not prove performance.
