Black Specialty Paper
Saturated black uncoated stocks for dark-luxury brands
Black specialty paper is through-dyed in the pulp stage, so the black tone runs all the way through the fibre — no white core peeking through on cut edges or fold lines. The result is the deepest, most saturated black available in print packaging, with a soft uncoated matte hand that absorbs light and makes foil stamping appear to glow. Stocks range from 120 gsm wraps to 350 gsm folding card and laminated 1.5 mm rigid boards. We use European mill stocks (Curious Black, Plike Black, GFSmith) for the most demanding luxury fragrance, jewellery, and electronics brands. Paired with hot-stamped gold or rose-gold foil, black specialty creates the iconic 'jewellery box' aesthetic.

Section 08 · FAQ
Frequently asked
Why does black specialty cost more than printed black?+
It's a premium imported stock dyed through the pulp — vs. coating a white sheet with black ink that shows white edges and folds.
Can I print colour photos on black specialty?+
No — the dark stock absorbs CMYK. Use white ink, foil, or spot UV for graphic detail. For colour photos use coated white card instead.
Does it scratch easily?+
The uncoated matte variants resist fingerprints; the soft-touch laminated versions feel premium but show wear faster on high-touch areas.
